Bp. Lennon, Bp. Bob , fellow clergy, and brothers and sisters in Christ, may God’s Peace be with you all.

The result of today’s election tells me that I must begin to prepare myself to receive and respond to God’s calling. This is not my achievement, but God’s call, and also a sign that God continues to work within our Church, and to assign me responsibility.

I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all the clergy and brothers and sisters for your trust in me. This trust calls me to greater humility and reminds me deeply of the weight of the responsibility that lies ahead. This office is not a new position or promotion in the ordinary sense of society; rather, it is a vocation entrusted by God through His Holy Catholic Church. Together with all clergy and faithful, each fulfilling our own calling, we are to lead one another forward on the journey of faith and the proclamation of the Gospel.

I would like to thank the Standing Committee for designing this grace-filled journey. I am also deeply grateful to Lily, and Simon, together we have walked and completed a truly meaningful and beautiful journey.  This journey was not a competition, nor a contest, but a process of accompanying one another.  Together, we listened for God’s will and discerned possible directions for our church’s future. I believe that the visions each of us shared were guided by the Holy Spirit.  I will carefully learn and reflect on the visions you have both offered, and I humbly ask for your continued guidance in the days ahead.  I thank God for allowing me to share these past months—such a special time—with both of you. I also aspire to maintain, together with all fellow clergy, a spirit of partnership and collegiality, building upon the strong and gracious foundation laid by Lennon, all clergy and faithful, as we continue walking this heavenly path together.

During the 3 public hearings, I witnessed many people’s longing and hope for the future development of the Church, as well as their deep passion and love for the Church. Together with all brothers and sisters, I will strive to continue seeking God’s will in prayer, to support one another through challenges, and to step courageously into the world in these changing times—holding fast to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and faithfully proclaiming God’s love.

I humbly ask for your prayers, that in the office I am about to undertake I may always have a heart of humility and wisdom. I also ask you to pray for the Episcopal Diocese of Taiwan, that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we may move forward in unity, and become the light and salt of this generation, bearing faithful witness to God.

Thanks be to God, and thank you all once again. May all Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
